Local Law Enforcement
Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what appears to be human blood in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.
Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they announced in a official communication.
Officers say they were contacted late on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish fluid.
The substance had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then found numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under laws prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police report early analysis suggest the liquid was probably human bodily fluid.
"There is still no lead as to where it came from; authorities are currently not aware of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.
Local authorities announced they were trying "to unravel the incident" and have appealed to the residents for information.
An important official commented the incident rendered him stunned and required to be resolved promptly.
"This incident hits the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on social media, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
